Naxos Island National Airport (JNX) might be the most relaxing airport in Greece: one small terminal, one runway laid along the salt flats south of town, and a plane-to-exit time measured in minutes. But because it’s so small, the details matter — flights are limited, taxis are few, and the smartest arrivals have their transport sorted before they land. Here’s the complete local guide.
The basics
- Location: just 3 km south of Naxos Town (Chora), next to Agios Georgios lagoon — you can be at your hotel 10 minutes after collecting your bag.
- Flights: Athens (ATH) hops with Olympic/Aegean year-round — about 40 minutes — plus seasonal European charters in summer. Seats are limited; book early.
- The terminal: compact and simple — one baggage belt, a cafe, and that’s the tour. No long walks, no transfer buses.
Getting from JNX to your hotel

Taxi
A short hop to Chora when available — but the island’s taxi fleet is small, and when two flights and a ferry land together, the rank empties fast. If you’re taxi-dependent, agree pickup in advance.
Bus / walking
There’s no meaningful public bus link timed to flights. In cooler months, energetic packers do walk the 30–40 minutes into town along the lagoon — with luggage in August, don’t.

- Arrive about 90 minutes before departure — it’s a small terminal, but a full ATR’s worth of passengers hits one security lane at once.
- Summer meltemi winds occasionally shuffle schedules on the Athens hop; keep an eye on your flight status and don’t book a same-day onward international connection tighter than 3 hours.
